Community School Team
The Morris School District Community School has been providing lifelong learning opportunities to the greater Morristown area for more than 50 years.
We offer programs for children including the Sunrise and Sunset child care programs, Summer Plus and Summer Music Academy ski program, and more.
The Community School has provided exceptional learning opportunities for adults that range from the Great Horizons Lecture Series to language, computer and technology, career and personal development, and creative classes.
Jennifer Adkins, Community School Coordinator X: 8313
Jen has been with the Community School for five years, coordinating all aspects of programming. She previously worked for the Hanover Township Board Of Education, and prior to that had a long career in retail, running a marketing company and owning a gourmet chocolate shop! She loves that her career has taken her full circle from her beginnings as a teacher to her present position, and is very happy to be a part of the Morris School District. Currently a student at Drew University, she hopes to complete her Doctor of Letters in May 2022.
Shari Burroughs, Community School Secretary X: 8311
Shari Burroughs is a lifelong resident of Morristown and has been the secretary for the Community School for the past 9 years. Before joining the Morris School District team, she served as a Team Leader at Verizon for over 28 years. As part of her service with the Junior Matrons of Morristown, an organization that gives scholarships to African American high school seniors, Shari received a Community Service award from the Morris County Prosecutor's office. She is a devoted member of the Calvary Baptist Church and is active in the Christian Courtesy Committee. She has 2 children and 4 granddaughters, that are her pride and joy.
Michelle Knox, Program Coordinator X: 8315
Michelle Knox joined the MSD Community School team in July of 2019 as the Adult School Program Facilitator. She is also an artist and community organizer not only in her role for the District, but and is the current President of the Arts Society of Keyport, on the Board of Directors at Monmouth Arts, she is The Creative Team Leader for the Keyport Green Team, a Stakeholder in the NJ Department of Cultural Affairs; Neighborhood Preservation Program, an Elected Monmouth County Democratic Committee Member, and a mom of a lively 3 year-old! She still finds time to cook, garden, enjoy nature, and laugh!
